LaborMed Pharma was founded in 1991. In just 17 years, the Group (LaborMed Pharma SA and LaborMed Pharma Trading) reached sales of EUR 28 million (2007), boasts a portfolio of 80 products registered in Romania and employs 470. Since February 2008, Advent International has become the majority stockholder of Labormed Pharma Group. The new CEO of the Labormed Pharma Group is Stephen Stead.

Approximately 70% of the sales value of LaborMed Pharma on the Romanian market is made through its own distribution network, while the rest comes through other distributors. The LaborMed Pharma distribution network comprises 8 branches that directly supply products to 3,500 pharmacies and 400 hospitals.

LaborMed Pharma is also present  on the  foreign market with over one third of its portfolio. The most active presence is  recorded in countries such as: Bulgaria, Republic of Moldova, The Russian Federation, Belarus and Georgia. With the accession of Romania in the European Union, and  Romanian legislation being aligned with EU laws, LaborMed Pharma drug authorization documentation  now meets the requirements of the European Union. This and  improved production capacity ensured by the new production facility, casts an optimistic light on the company’s objectives to access new markets. On the short and medium term, LaborMed Pharma contemplates  taking as many export opportunities as possible, focusing on authorising and trading its products in EU Member states, in and out-licensing and contracted manufacturing.

Today, LaborMed Pharma stands for a firm pharmaceutical company, with a consistent development in its three areas of interests: research, production and distribution. Without benefiting from a traditional past , LaborMed Pharma has managed to rapidly stand-out on the Romanian market by taking the right decisions in terms of portfolio development. We are particularly proud that, despite the specifics of the Romanian health system which are not always favorable to domestic industry, LaborMed Pharma is an exclusive success of Romanian intelligence and investment.
